The Early Years

The club was founded in 2002 under the name ‘Medway Mariners’ at a home diamond known as ‘Jarrett Field’. The name was chosen due to the ground’s proximity to the River Medway and its nautical associations.

After some tough learning experiences in the British Baseball Federation’s (BBF) Southern league, the Mariners stepped back to the ‘Friendly League’ organised by Old Timers Baseball Club in 2004. The first Friendly League season included the club’s first ever win and a break-out campaign in 2005 saw only one defeat over the entire season.
